About
Hi! I’m Travis Wetzel. I like to call myself an educator, entrepreneur, deejay, marketer, web designer, photographer, geek, and Apple fanboy. I’m not sure what you want to know, but here’s a little bit about me…
Background
I was born, grew up, and still am based out of Southeastern Wisconsin. It’s a beautiful area and a great location between Milwaukee, WI & Chicago, IL. As much as I enjoy living here, I like to travel and I want to see more places.
Educator
I graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2008 with a bachelor’s of science degree in Business & Marketing Education. Since graduation, I currently hold a job as a business & technology educator at Wilmot Union High School, my alma mater. I teach all computer-based courses in a lab of 30 iMac computers. I also design and maintain the school’s website. I love Wilmot, the staff, students, and courses I teach. Currently, I teach Intro to Technology, Word PowerPoint Publisher 2007, Website Design, Advanced Website Design, & Web 3.0.
In the fall of 2009 I began studying to earn my master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Cardinal Stritch University. Graduation is anticipated for May, 2011.
Entrepreneur & Deejay
While only in 8th grade, in 1998 I started my own disc jockey company called Trav-A-Ling Tunes. I love music and making good events great. I’ve worked tons of gigs and gained experience working many types of events. To list a few: school dances, corporate events, and concerts.
In high school I hosted a morning radio show with my best friend Scott. It was called “The Early Spot with Trav & Scott” on 89.1 WBSD. At WBSD I had the opportunity to record voice overs and host or daily show. It was fun to get the feet wet in radio.
I am still keeping Trav-A-Ling Tunes alive by deejaying, providing production, and announcing different events throughout the year. Weddings have become my specialty. It is so rewarding to provide entertainment for people on such a special day. To learn more about my deejay services and Trav-A-Ling Tunes head over to travalingtunes.com.
Marketer/Website Designer
Marketing & web design have been an interest and area of study I’ve had for many years. I believe the two topics go hand-in-hand. I really enjoyed studying marketing and Internet marketing at UW-Whitewater. Web design is a great tool a marketer should have in the tool bag. Web design is always changing which provides a great challenge.
Current projects: Gia’s Salon, Trav-A-Ling Tunes, travis-wetzel.com (of course), wilmothighschool.com
Past projects: Breezy Hill Nursery, WG Floor Covers, Powers Lake Construction
Photographer
Digital photography is a recent interest I have absorbed. It’s so fun to capture moments, memories, objects, and nature and turn them into a piece of art captured still in time. This is a new avenue for me, and I’m still learning a lot! One of my first projects as a photographer was my sister’s wedding engagement and save-the-date piece.
For the techs, here’s the equipment I use: Canon EOS 50D, 24-105mm f4L, 50mm f1.4, EFS 75-300mm, Apple Aperture, Crumpler bags
Technology & Apple Fanboy
Technology is a huge part of all my interests mentioned above. It’s a large part of our world and my life. I love learning how to use technology to make business and personal life more efficient and enjoyable.
I grew up using Windows OS and PCs at home and in school. In college, I borrowed a friends Apple mac mini while my Sony laptop was out for repair. After using the mac for only a month, I fell in love. Apple is a great company and produces great products. I don’t know how I’d live without my iPhone & Macbook Pro!
That’s enough about me for this page! I’d love to hear from you. Contact me if you have questions or have similar interests to discuss! Connect with me on the Internet by checking out the “Connect” box at the bottom of this page for my social accounts.
